LAVA PIECES (TENERIFE)

In Tenerife you will find numerous black sand beaches, especially in the north of the island. While it is true that you can also find beaches of blonde sand and pebbles, these are not the most common. The Canary Islands emerged from numerous volcanic eruptions over the years. The northern area of the island is the place where we can find a lot of beaches, many of them sheltered by cliffs that in turn are responsible for perpetuating the renewal of materials which form these beaches. The sediment of volcanic lava with the continuous roll of the sea is responsible for crushing this rock solidification to turn it into black sand. Due to the mineral richness of volcanic lands, it is common to find a contrasting green colour in the surroundings of black sand beaches.
